a huge success and I believe this time will be no different.
The annual meeting for EuroCham where well visited and the old
board was re-elected. Our EU Ambassador Breteche opened the event
with a speech on the plans and visions for EU and European business
in Indonesia. The message was clear, more business, but EU will
be working mostly through the ASEAN collaboration. There are several
negotiations of Free Trade ongoing and we all need to ensure that
speed is not lost against nations like Japan. If you are in a
business where you feel that you need some support.

beer and soft drink. If you want, you can bring your own wine,

some light entertainment as well. You will receive the agenda
upon your registration. Please register to me via E-mail before
March 17. Naturally free for members.

got it yet, please let me know so you can participate as well.
The results will be available for you who participate.

Hotel. It's our Finnish brothers that are hosting this event.

in Indonesia and Future Plans & Perspectives (NIB's President
and CEO recently discussed with Vice President Kalla in Helsinki

1. SBA News
The year 2006 are upon us. It has started with a surprisingly
strong USD and deflation in December (?). During the holidays
we had a bomb in Sulawesi, but far aside from the media and the
mainstream areas. More about the outlook for 2006 below under
Other.
We have an annual meeting upcoming in March. The exact date is
still being discussed, but if you have any special proposals for
people in the board, please send an E-mail to me and suggest.
We have the Swedish Business Delegation going to Korea this year
again and there we will meet up with the colleagues working in
Korea. Of course there will be some time to ski as well. We will
leave mid February and you will get a report on the event later.
During February you will also get your questionnaire on business
and what you think about the country. Everyone that answer the
questionnaire will get the result of it for free. We will also
present the results on the annual meeting in March. The more that
answers, the better accuracy on the result.

1. SBA News
Christmas is standing in front of our doors and we are all eagerly
waiting for Santa, food, Donald Duck and presents.
It has been a shifting year for SBA. We have had our crash courses,
Nordic Events and board meetings. The activity of SBA has been
extended with an increased cooperation with EuroCham and there
are now a load of white papers and reports coming up from the
year. I will try to get a special package together by mid January
on some of the papers for the one of you that are interested.
Below I talk a little bit on the new tax proposals as well as
the coming infrastructure summit.
Let me and us at SBA wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year.
2. European News
EuroCham have put this first full year behind itself with several
events. The new year will bring EuroCham in to another gear since
we now are reaching the critical volume of members. There will
be monthly cocktail parties for networking and bimonthly business
luncheons with guest speakers.
Our last luncheon with Andreas Julin from the European Commission
as guest speaker went very well and we got a deep progress report
on the current WTO negotiations. It seems like despite a rather
bumpy negotiation round in Hongkong, something actually came out
of it.
The first cocktail party will be at Mandarin Oriental Hotel (at
the Oriental Bar) on January 11 at 18.00. Put this in your calendar
and register direct with EuroCham at phone: (62 21) 521 16 50
/ fax: (62 21) 521 16 51, email: info@eurocham.or.id.
I believe that this is a important event to increase the inter-European
communication.
For everyone in Infrastructure, the infrastructure event on February
9-11 2006, there will be a European booth. If you are interested,
don't hesitate to contact me so we can see how we can get you
in there to the best price. Note that you can participate as a
visitor as well as present yourself in a booth in the following
exhibition. Worth to take a look. The success of the event has
been discussed and I will reserve my self on being too positive,
but let us talk more about this if you are genuinely interested.

1. SBA News
The end of the year is closing up and we will soon have to summarize
the 2005. There are a few events coming up from the Swedish side.
Nordic Event - Ostindiefararen - The famous boat coming to Jakarta
in June 2006 will open up opportunities as well as moving Swedish
history closer to Indonesia. The project leader for this, Dan-Erik
Hägglund, will be guest speaker on this quarters Nordic Event,
held at December 8 at 19.00. Venue is to be determined. Invitations
are coming during next week, but book it up in your agenda.
We
will also have a Swedish Business Lunecheon at Hotel Mulia Senayan
on Friday December 9 at 13.00 on the subject hosted by the Embassy.
Please contact Amreta for more information at Telp: 021-25535921
or E-mail at amreta.sidik@foreign.ministry.se
2. European News
The Investment to Bryssel on November 29 had a preparation session
on November 10 but did not come with any surprises. We are still
feeling that things are muddling through and not much is happening.
The visit to Bryssel will be directed towards investment, but
I have a feeling it will only be a political courtesy call.
The
EuroCham Business Luncheon on November 29 (12.00-14.00) at Le
Meridien Hotel will feature our own Swedish member of the European
Commission, Andreas Julin, as a guest speaker on the subject "The
challange of the WTO negotiations in Hongkong" . Please contact
EuroCham for more information at info@eurocham.or.id
or Telp: (021) 521 1650.
We also have the working group on Intellectual Property starting
up on Thursday November 24 (16.00-18.00) at the EuroCham office,
which will look closer on the problems with copyright and trademarks
in Indonesia. Recommended for any company with counterfeit and
piracy issues.
