1. SBA News
EuroCham is now up and running. Swedish Business Association is a founding
member and I have taken the seat as a vice chairman in the board. There are still
some practical things to handle, but so far it has been decided that EuroCham will
reside in WTC with a secretariat. Sector groups are currently being worked on
and I will keep you all posted here and we will set up a EuroCham page on our
web site. It is estimated to have the EuroCham page up and running in beginning
of August, in time for the next newsletter. Also to put in your agenda is a Nordic
Event in end of August. The preliminary date is set to Thursday August 26, so put
that in your agenda. The subject will be legal certainty with a look at what really is
happening. How does it work? Can I be declared bankrupt as Prudential or can I
get in to trouble like Michael Olsson in Balikpapan. Well, I can promise that you will
get some very real and useful tips and tricks.....
2. Swedish Business in Indonesia News
There has not been much news on the Swedish Business front. There are a few
young entrepreneurs that will visit during July and take a look at the possibilities to
some smaller ventures. SBA secretariat takes care of them during the visits and if
something comes out of it, it will be reported accordingly.

1. SBA News SBA will participate in the General Meeting of EuroCham in the coming week and there we will elect a board and make an action plan for the future. It's going to be interesting to see if all the European businesses finally can get their act together. Also to note, intitial discussion on our WEB project has been conducted with the EU commission. We hope to have this project off the ground after the holidays.
2.Swedish Business in Indonesia News The first news is that from June 1, this year, there are additional requirements for VISA applicants to go to Sweden (all Schengen actually). You now have to have a health insurance for ALL chengen and it must be up to Euro 30,000 in hospital fees. So if you have some Indonesians on the way to Sweden, contact the Embassy as soon as possible so you get all the requirements updated. You can contact Viveca Löfberg at the embassy. We had a fashion show
with some Swedish models in Kelapa Gading. I did not realize they where Swedish until they started to talk
and the cloth was not from H&M so I guess it was not a very large news on Swedish Business, even though they looked really good...

1. SBA News We had a signing ceremony at Mercantile on May 11 where the new EuroCham was created. We are a founding member and if anyone want's to see the articles please let me know. The first meeting and the actual creation of the EuroCham will be in June, date yet to be determined. One news is that IKEA has joined us as a member and they are welcomed in to our family. Other news is: The Board of Directors of the Sulawesi Regional Development Cooperation Board (BKPRS = Badan Kerjasama Pembangunan Regional Sulawesi) cordially request the honour of your presence at a business luncheon on Monday, 17 May 2004, at Kirana Room, Kartika Chandra Hotel Jakarta, at 11:00 - 13:00. For confirmation of attendance, please call Hadijah on 789 2938 (hunting). It's free of charge and I believe that it can be nice and interesting. Sulawesi's provinces are rather aggressive in getting investors so who knows what they offer.
2. Swedish Business in Indonesia News We just got in the trade statistics and it seems like we are doing well. The export has decreased since last year with 35% (rolling year) and the import with 14%. It's clear that we need to work a bit harder. If you want more details, please let me know.

1. SBA News
The work in converting EIA (European Indonesian Association) to EuroCham continues. It's a more complicated road than anyone can imagine and it has all the flavors that I assume all EU project nowadays have. What seems clear is that companies can be members direct and/or via bilateral chambers or associations (like SBA). Most important with this project is to get a larger pool of resource for European companies to use in their efforts to succeed with business here in Indonesia. For anyone that is interested in more details, please don't hesitate to contact me, there is plenty of reading....
We will have a board meeting at the Swedish Embassy on Thursday April 22 at 17.00, let me know if you can make it. There are several items on the agenda, including new member applications.
2. Swedish Business in Indonesia News

1. SBA News
Our annual meeting went well of as planned and our little pool competition left us all behind the victor, Ilpo, that showed skills worthy of a master. The current board was re-elected and will have the following composition for the next year: Chairman: Per Brandt, Vice Chairman: Ilpo Saarisivu, Treasurer: Per Thuresson, Secretary: Michael Olsson and Auditor: Stefan Meurling. As before all voting members are also members in the board and the other members are deputies. Another thing, on Tuesday March 23, EIA present a luncheon with a speaker on the coming election. More information about that on our web site.
2. Swedish Business in Indonesia News
Well, it's not really Swedish Business, but anyway, the prosectors in the GAM case has arrived and will search and verify evidence in Indonesias case against the GAM leadership in Sweden. The media attention is great and a lot of expectations is building up. It's a bit surprising that it get so much attention now so close to the election, or maybe that is the reason for that it gets all the attention. Let's hope for the best and that there will be no dissappointment in the end.
